Paul Young

Senior Pastor

Paul lived in Perth most of his life but did not grow up in a ‘Christian’ family. His faith started when he came to grips with the grace of God and the forgiveness in Jesus. God was big enough to handle his doubts, of which he had plenty.

Paul failed at professional golf, which led him to become a social worker and, eventually, a pastor.

After some time studying theology on the East Coast and serving in other church startups, they are now back in Perth with Providence Bayswater. They have the same desire: to spread the hope of Jesus in a world in desperate need of hope.

They’ve both experienced church plants that have reached lots of people who don’t go to church – and they’re convinced that the risks of starting something new are absolutely worth it.

Jacinta Patterson

Director of Membership & Maturity

Jacinta became a Christian when she was 17. This was the first time she really ‘heard’ the gospel and went from feeling like she was blind to finally seeing.

She’s also stoked that over the years that God is deeply good, generous, and just altogether lovely. She loves that God is different to how we expect Psalm 103.

She grew up on wheat and sheep farm 4 hours from Perth. And will talk all things Farmer Wants a Wife or McLeod’s Daughters, kelpies or border collies.

Jacinta, or JPat, loves fun active outdoor activities, organising social events, and live music.

She’s also stoked that over the years that God has proved himself to her to. be deeply good, generous, and just altogether lovely! She loves that God is different to how we expect.

Church Planting Residents

Some things are more important than serving ourselves. One way we apply this is to train theological students for church planting and ministry while they study.
