Paul lived in Perth most of his life but did not grow up in a ‘Christian’ family. His faith started when he came to grips with the grace of God and the forgiveness in Jesus. God was big enough to handle his doubts, of which he had plenty.

Paul failed at professional golf, which led him to become a social worker and, eventually, a pastor.

After training and serving in other church startups, they are now back in Perth with Providence Bayswater. They have the same desire: to spread the hope of Jesus in a world in desperate need of hope.

Paul and his wife Bec have both experienced church plants that have reached lots of people who don’t go to church – and they’re convinced that the risks of starting something new are absolutely worth it.

Jacinta became a Christian when she was 17. This was the first time she really ‘heard’ the gospel and went from feeling like she was blind to finally seeing.

She’s also stoked that over the years she has come to believe that God really is good, generous, and just altogether lovely. She loves that God is different to how we expect!

Jacinta grew up on wheat and sheep farm 4 hours from Perth, and loves talking all things farming. This could include, but is not limited to: Farmer Wants a Wife or McLeod’s Daughters, crop protection, and kelpies versus border collies.

Jacinta, or JPat, loves fun active outdoor activities, organising social events, and live music.

She is loving working at Baysie! She helps new people find their way into church and growing our babies and kids in the Lord.

Andrew grew up in a nominal Buddhist migrant family, who sought a better world for their children. He became Christian at the end of high school when his world crumbled around him, realising that Jesus was the best thing about this world because He made it and made sense of it!

He loves street dance, all things nerdy, and most of all, people. He wishes his humour was better than a 6.5/10 but is thankful that some decide to laugh at his jokes and let him into their lives even when he’s a mess.

Andrew, after working with Asian churches around Australia, couldn’t shake the sadness he felt at seeing many silently leave those churches in apathy. He and his wife, Abi, hope to start a new church in the fastest-growing city in Australia to reach the floods of people flocking to Perth seeking a better world but haven’t yet found the One who offers it.

Josh grew up going to church but for much of his teenage life thought Christianity was about doing good to avoid God’s punishment. It wasn’t until university that he came to understand grace – the freeing message that he isn’t good enough but Jesus is.

After finishing his degree and working as a physio for a few years, Josh made the move towards full-time Christian work. He’s currently studying at Trinity Theological College and training at ProvBaysie for more hands-on experience.

Josh loves spending time with his wife, Sharon and daughter, Phoebe while he cultivates 50 year old man hobbies (diy projects, lawn care, coffee snobbery).
