Care at Prov

Care comes in many forms. As the body of Christ, we delight in caring for and supporting one another.

Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.

Romans 12:15 NIV

We are a church does life together. The small things, the big things, the ups and downs. We are currently developing our Care systems and structures so that we are all equipped to care for one another and so no one falls through the cracks.

We often think care is primarily the responsibility of our pastors, but as the body of Christ, God calls us to all play a part in offering care, whether through prayer, presence, meals, or simply showing up in times of need.

We care for one another in three main relationship contexts: One-another, Growth Groups and Our Care team. Our Care team can help people find further appropriate care when required, such as pastoral or professional care.

In a growing church, it’s especially important that we have effective systems and structures to ensure that each member receives the care and support they need. We are constantly working to develop these. You can stay up to date by coming back to this page from time to time.

We offer care and support through life’s key moments, from births, marriages, and grief to everyday needs.

Births & Baptisms

God calls us to walk with one another through life’s everyday moments—celebrating the joys, carrying the burdens, and showing care through prayer, encouragement, and simply being present.

While we won’t be close with everyone in the church, it’s within the church community that we find the best opportunity to build meaningful, lifelong friendships—companions for the road ahead. Most of the care we need in day-to-day life is found in the simple, faithful love we show each other—mirroring the love Christ has shown us.

Funerals & Grief Support

In times of loss, we offer compassionate care through funeral planning, memorial services, and grief support. You don’t have to walk through sorrow alone.

Weddings & Marriage Prep

Marriage is a gift from God, and we love supporting couples as they prepare for a life-long journey together. We offer Pre-Marriage and Marriage courses, and our pastors are trained to facilitate the Prepare-Enrich course. While our church doesn’t officiate weddings, we’re committed to walking alongside you as you grow in love and faith together.

Pastoral Care & Support

While our Staff Team may step in at times for individual care emergencies, the frontline of care is one another and our Growth Groups. The Staff Team’s role is to care for the whole church by overseeing and strengthening the systems, structures, and training that help ensure no one falls through the gaps.

Frequently asked questions

Who should I contact if I’m in need of care?

The first people you should reach out to are your church friends. Friends are a precious blessing from God, given to walk with us through life’s challenges. As Ecclesiastes 4:9–10 reminds us: “Two are better than one… If either falls, one can help the other up.”

You should also inform your Growth Group Leaders about what’s going on; they are there to offer support and will do their best to assist you. If you require specialized care, your Growth Group Leaders can help connect you with our Care Team or Staff Team, who can recommend professional services.

For urgent or confidential matters that you’d prefer to address directly with our Care team or staff, feel free to contact us at: care@providencechurch.org.au.

Can I request support for someone else?

Yes. If you know someone in our church who could use care, you’re welcome to reach out on their behalf with their permission.

Who provides the care in your church?

Care is shared across our community. It starts with one another, includes Growth Groups, and is supported by our Care team and staff when needed.
