WEEKEND AWAY

Time away, together.

Whether you’ve been coming to Providence City for years or you’re still finding your feet at the 8:30am congregation, we’d love you to come along to this weekend away.

It’ll be a great chance to get away, spend time with friends, meet some new people, and grow in our knowledge and love of Jesus.

We’ll have plenty of time for fun activities, relaxation, and digging into God’s Word through some great Bible talks.

Come along — we’d love to have you with us!

Why go away for the weekend?

Our 8:30am church family is growing! We’ve welcomed many new people into our congregation. There’s no better way to invest in these new (and old) relationships than with some extended time together.

Away from the busyness of life.
Away from our usual routines.
Away from the rush of the week.

And together, making space to grow in community, know and love God, and enjoy being His people.

We believe following Jesus is something we do together. This weekend away will give us a chance to spend extended time together as a church family.

Our hope is that over the weekend you’ll have the chance to grow in community; know and love God, and rest and enjoy.

Meet the Speaker

Thom Bull

Thom spent several years serving as a pastor and chaplain in Anglican churches and schools. He completed a PhD in Historical Theology and is now a lecturer in Theology and Ethics at Trinity Theological College.

He loves introducing people to the deep riches of the Christian tradition, and he has a particular interest in the history and theology of the Reformation.

Thom is married to Mary Jane, and they have four children. They enjoy going bushwalking with Rosie the border collie, playing music together, and the odd backyard cricket match (in which the children are invariably victorious).

Camp Accommodation — How It Works

We know accommodation can be one of the big questions when planning for camp, so we wanted to clarify how it will work and what you can expect.

🛏️ Dormitory-style accommodation

The camp accommodation is dormitory-style, with shared rooms, rather than individual hotel-style rooms. Because the number of private/family dorms is limited, some families may need to share a dormitory with another family or group.

When registering, you can let us know your accommodation preferences, including who you would be happy to share with. If you have another family or people you know that you would prefer to stay with, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate that.

For families who don’t have a particular preference, the Weekend Away team will organise the accommodation based on the available rooms and the needs of those attending.

🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 Keeping families together

Our preference is generally for family units to stay together, where possible. However, if a family would prefer to split into separate guys’ and girls’ dorms for the weekend, this can also be an option.

For singles and married couples, accommodation will likewise be organised within the available dormitory spaces, with preferences able to be communicated during registration.

👶 Private rooms and specific needs

We understand that some families or individuals may have particular accommodation needs — for example, families with young babies who may need to feed throughout the night, or other specific circumstances that make sharing a dormitory difficult.

As the number of private rooms is limited, these rooms will need to be prioritised for those with particular needs. However, we will do our very best to accommodate everyone’s preferences wherever possible, within the limitations of the campsite and the rooms available.

⛺ Got a tent or caravan?

Want to really lean-in to the adventure? Mornington Adventure Camp also has unpowered sites for byo tents and caravans. The camping area overlooks the onsite lake and has shared bathrooms facilities.

❓What should I do?

If you have already registered and didn’t include an accommodation preference, or if your circumstances or preferences have changed, please don’t worry. You can let the camp team know what would work best for you.

When sharing accommodation, the most helpful information is:

  • Who you would ideally like to share with
  • Whether you would prefer to keep your family together or are happy to split into guys’ and girls’ dorms
  • Any specific accommodation needs we should be aware of

We can’t guarantee that every preference will be possible, but knowing what works best for you helps us make the accommodation arrangements as thoughtfully as possible.

Our goal is simply to make the accommodation side of camp as comfortable and straightforward as we can for everyone!

What will we do over the weekend?

We’ve got many activities lined up for everyone — young and old. We’ll keep the element of surprise, but think bush walks, bootscooting and all-in fun together!

Do I need to stay for the whole weekend?
Registrations are for full-time campers only. However, if you’d like to join part-time, let us know, and we can make the appropriate arrangements!
What should I bring?

Once you’ve registered, we’ll share a suggested packing list closer to the date to help you get prepared! For now, the important thing to know is that you will need to bring your own linen and towels as these are not provided by the camp.
